Breaking Cages
The Quest To Find Freedom, Meaning, And Love
“The thoughts flooded in my head, wanting to find their way out, that’s all I knew. And there was a burning will. A will to pass on lessons. To put things into order in my recent observations, to find a narrative of how things appear to work, find a correlation between the way I think and act—and the “behavior” of my reality. I was especially intrigued by the last two months which happened to show me so much, that I couldn’t help but feel this was not a coincidence.
These insights were not here only for me to learn from, they must find their way to a wider audience…”
A 35-year-old embarks on a one-way journey to find meaning, but as she dives into self-reflection along her winding path, she uncovers life-changing treasures.

What if the life you carefully built has become the very thing holding you back?
At thirty-five, Dana had it all – a prestigious position at a global corporation, financial security, and the outward markers of success. Yet beneath the polished surface lurked a persistent whisper: Is this all there is?
When that whisper grew too loud to ignore, she made the decision to embark on an open-ended journey into the unknown. What follows is not just a travel memoir, but an intimate exploration of what happens when we dare to question everything we thought we knew about ourselves.
Spanning three continents and more than a year, Breaking Cages weaves together unexpected encounters with profound internal discoveries. From soul-stirring conversations to confronting her deepest fears in a French castle, from building a new life in California to finding herself starting over again as COVID-19 reshapes our world – Dana’s journey becomes a mirror for our own questions about purpose, authenticity, and what it truly means to be free.
But this book is more than just one woman’s story. The second half invites readers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery. Through thought-provoking exercises, you’ll explore the unexpected ways your mind shapes your reality—and learn how to reshape it to create the life you truly desire.

Testimony
Reading Breaking Cages made me feel seen and less alone. I resonated a lot with Dana on her quest for purpose, meaning, and love!
As women, life has felt hard and sometimes scary, but the only way out of that cage is to explore and experience beyond fears and social constructs!
I felt myself rooting for Dana, nervous for her, excited to turn the page to see where she ended up after all. It’s a raw love story filled with inspiring breakthroughs, heartbreak, disappointment, and triumph!
Dana really draws you in and takes you along for the ride. It’s honest, true, and at times romantic and dreamy! Dana really told her story of an epic adventure through a deep transformation!
I believe anyone desiring a life shift would enjoy this book, anyone seeking meaning beyond their current circumstances, and anyone looking for encouragement to chase their dreams!
Absolutely loved it, and I will be recommending to anyone looking to explore themselves on a deeper level!
Reading the memoir was both easy and magical. It felt like reading a novel where you become the protagonist, and your world merges with theirs. It’s rare to find a memoir that’s so truthful, vulnerable, and real.
The level of vulnerability and honesty in this memoir is truly rare. It feels like being part of the writer’s inner circle, and that emotional intimacy helps you lower your own defenses. It prepares you to approach the workbook with an open heart and mind.
I was convinced that if the tools offered in the workbook worked for the writer, they might work for me too.
The protagonist’s challenges were deeply relatable. As a strong, independent woman who travels the world alone and feels like she belongs everywhere and nowhere at once, I saw myself in her.
It was beautiful to witness her internal process – observing, analyzing, and ultimately transforming patterns and limiting beliefs in pursuit of a spiritually free life: free from constraints, expectations, and loneliness. The book made me feel seen, understood, and hopeful. It offered not just validation, but a beautiful perspective on life.
I’d recommend this book to women in their 20s and beyond who are on a transformation journey, feeling stuck, or searching for inspiration and practical tools.
It could also work great for those who might not yet realize they’re stuck – the book could be a powerful recommendation from a friend or loved one. While the memoir can resonate with a wide age range, it will likely have the strongest impact on those in a similar life stage to the writer during her journey.
Dana’s experiences resonated with me: I could see how going through your inner blockages can make you stronger and heal you. This book is special because Dana shared her journey with vulnerability. The first part feels like having an intimate conversation with a friend, and the guidebook is a very useful learning tool.
I recommend this book to you, especially if you are looking for a positive change in your life/ would like to shift your view and see things outside the box/ would like to experience more joy and happiness in your life.
I have never read anything like it.
I also never read a book that would have an interesting structure – the memoir is so magnetic that I couldn’t stop reading – you transported me to all those beautiful places around the world…
Even though I consider myself quite sophisticated in self-awareness, your exercises gave me new insights and I feel like I’ve cleared one or two things that were still stuck.
